Every February, San Antonio pulls on its boots. The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is one of the biggest in the country: 18 days of PRCA rodeo, a big-name concert after almost every performance, livestock barns, a carnival and enough turkey legs to feed the city. The 2027 edition, the 78th, runs Feb. 11–28, 2027, at the Frost Bank Center and Freeman Coliseum grounds on the East Side.

Here's the lineup so far, how tickets work and what I'd tell any first-timer.

Get rodeo lineup updates

The rest of the 2027 lineup is still to come. Join the weekend email and I'll let you know when new acts are announced, along with the best things to do in San Antonio each weekend.

How tickets work

  • One ticket, three things. A rodeo ticket gets you a reserved seat in the Frost Bank Center for the PRCA rodeo, the concert that follows and fairgrounds admission for that day. Carnival rides take a separate wristband.
  • Season tickets for all 22 performances start at $814.
  • Grounds-only passes are sold separately if you just want the barns, shopping, food and carnival. 2027 prices hadn't been posted at our last check.
  • Doors open 90 minutes before each performance. The rodeo runs about two hours, then the concert starts.
  • Buy only from official channels. Use the rodeo's ticket page or its Ticketmaster page. Popular shows can sell out, so if your heart is set on a headliner or a weekend night, buy early.

Getting there: parking and shuttle

The grounds are at 3201 E. Houston St., about 3 miles east of downtown. The rodeo says 2027 parking details will be released in late fall, but two options are already listed:

  • Red Lot (off Houston St.): a permit lot sold by the day or for the season. Limited, and not included with a season ticket.
  • Blue Lot and Rodeo Express Shuttle (201 Gembler Rd.): one pass per vehicle, with a shuttle to the grounds included. Online sales close the day before, and after that you buy at the lot.

Check the official parking and shuttle page for 2027 prices once they're posted. Rideshare is also an easy way to avoid the lots altogether; see our getting-around guide.

Know before you go

  • Bags: The Frost Bank Center allows bags up to 12 x 12 x 6 inches, clear or not. No backpacks. All bags may be searched. Arena bag policy
  • Cash or card: The Frost Bank Center is cashless. Cash works on the fairgrounds, and there are ATMs along the concourse.
  • Leave at home: outside food and drinks, coolers, bottles or cans, selfie sticks, drones, e-bikes, hoverboards, laser pointers, pepper spray, firearms and knives with blades over 3 inches. Strollers and professional cameras aren't allowed inside the arenas.
  • Hours: The posted 2027 hours are Sunday–Thursday 10 a.m.–8 p.m. and Friday–Saturday 10 a.m.–9 p.m. for the grounds, and later for the carnival. Treat those as subject to change and check the hours page before you go.

Beyond the arena

  • Bar-B-Que Cook-Off & Festival: Friday and Saturday, Jan. 29–30, 2027, 9 a.m.–midnight, at 1723 Creekview Dr., with live music and a kids' cook-off. It's the unofficial kickoff, two weeks before the rodeo opens. BBQ Cook-Off
  • Western Heritage Parade & Cattle Drive: Saturday, Feb. 6, 2027, at 10:55 a.m., with longhorns and riders on Houston Street from Milam Park to Broadway. The Stampede 5K starts at 9 a.m. that morning, and Western Heritage Weekend fills Market Square Feb. 5–7. Parade details
  • Livestock barns, shopping and the carnival: included with grounds admission. The barns are a great stop for kids who've never been nose to nose with a steer.
  • Special days: Thrifty Thursdays and College Days are Feb. 11, 18 and 25, and Family Day is Sunday, Feb. 21. Promotion details for 2027 are still "coming soon."

First-timer tips

  • Go early. Get to the grounds a few hours before your rodeo to walk the barns, eat and shop. Doors to the arena open 90 minutes before the show.
  • Every performance has mutton bustin' and the calf scramble, which are crowd favorites, especially with kids.
  • Pick your night by the concert, since the rodeo itself is great every time. For the most action, aim for Xtreme Bulls (Feb. 21 noon), the Semi-Finals (Feb. 25–26) or the Finals (Feb. 27).
  • Wear boots or comfortable closed shoes. The grounds include barns and dirt paths.
  • Dress in layers. February in San Antonio can swing from chilly to warm in a day, and it's cooler in the evening. See what to pack.

Where to stay

The grounds are a short drive or rideshare from downtown, so a River Walk or downtown hotel puts you near restaurants after the show. Our where to stay guide compares neighborhoods. Book early, because rodeo weekends are busy.
